Kindergarten FAQs
What is the difference between 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Kindergarten?+
Both are funded, play-based programs led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers. Three-Year-Old Kindergarten gently introduces group learning, connection and confidence, while Four-Year-Old Kindergarten builds on this in the year before school with a stronger focus on independence and school readiness.
Is Free Kinder really free?+
Free Kinder is a Victorian Government initiative that helps families access quality kindergarten in the years before school. Because Little Roses delivers Kindergarten within a long day care setting, Free Kinder is provided as a fee offset that reduces eligible families' out-of-pocket fees, rather than the entire long day care day being free.
Who is eligible for Free Kinder?+
Free Kinder is for everyone. Families do not need a Health Care Card, Pension Card, Australian citizenship, proof of address or Child Care Subsidy eligibility. It is available to children enrolled in a funded Three-Year-Old or Four-Year-Old Kindergarten program at a participating service, and a child can access Free Kinder at only one service at a time.
How do Free Kinder and the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) work together?+
If your family is eligible for CCS, it is applied first and the Free Kinder offset is then applied to the remaining fees. Families may still have out-of-pocket fees for the additional education and care hours provided beyond the funded Kindergarten program. Our team can help you understand how it works for your family.
Who teaches the Kindergarten program?+
Our Kindergarten Program is led by qualified Early Childhood Teachers who plan intentional, play-based learning around each child's interests, strengths and development.
Can my child attend Kindergarten and long day care at Little Roses?+
Yes. Children access their funded Kindergarten Program within our long day care environment, combining a teacher-led Kindergarten program with the convenience and flexibility of extended education and care.
