Our Educational Philosophy
At Little Roses Early Learning and Kindergarten, our philosophy guides everything we do. We believe in nurturing the whole child through meaningful relationships, play-based learning, and respect for each family's unique journey.
Our Core Beliefs
We believe that all children have their own unique sense of identity and dispositions, therefore, their learning requires an individual approach.
We see children as capable, resilient learners.
We recognise each child has a right to an education that ensures equity, gives them a voice in their learning and supports their ongoing wellbeing.
We recognise families are children's first and most significant teachers. We value the language, customs, culture, beliefs that each child and family bring to our service.
We endeavour to build strong relationships with families that are based on mutual trust and respect.
We acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which we live, learn and grow. Our learning community recognises and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
We believe children learn best through meaningful play that supports each child's learning and development. Opportunities for unhurried and open-ended exploration of materials and the environment supports children's development and life skills.
Our curriculum is fostered by this philosophy and Early Years Learning and Development Frameworks (VEYLDF). We engage in a planning cycle that includes noticing children's learning, listening to their ideas, engaging with families and reflection.
Our service is a lively environment in which we are continually learning. We are all life-long learners.
Individual Approach
Every child has their own unique identity and dispositions. We celebrate these differences and tailor our approach to meet each child's individual learning needs and interests.
Family Partnerships
Families are children's first teachers. We build strong relationships based on mutual trust, respect, and shared commitment to each child's wellbeing and development.
Meaningful Play
Children learn best through unhurried, open-ended exploration and meaningful play experiences that support their natural curiosity and development.
Cultural Respect
We value and celebrate the diverse languages, customs, cultures, and beliefs that each family brings to our learning community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture.
Our Educational Framework
Our curriculum and educational practices are guided by the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF)and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
We engage in a continuous planning cycle that includes:
- • Observing and noticing children's learning
- • Listening to children's ideas and interests
- • Engaging with families as partners
- • Reflecting on practice and planning next steps
